A Foundation for Healthy Food
With the intention of creating a healthier and more sustainable future by demonstrating how to create healthy compost, today’s profile of Dave Wann at Harmony Gardens aims to help humanity take a step in this direction. David Wann is an author, filmmaker, and speaker on the topic of sustainable lifestyles and designs. He has also produced 20 videos and TV programs, including the award-winning TV documentary “Designing a Great Neighborhood,” about the Holiday neighborhood in Boulder. David is president of the Sustainable Futures Society and a Fellow of the National Simplicity Forum. He worked more than a decade as a policy analyst for U.S. EPA and co-designed the cohousing neighborhood where he lives, in Golden. After 20 years of cultivating the garden here in Golden, he has become a library of knowledge when it comes to the synergies of the natural world.
Today in the Adventure of Truth, we participated in a planting event with Return of the Natives. At Zmudowski beach in Monterey Bay, we planted 1200 native plants including Sagewort, Buckwheat, and Beach Primrose. In coordination with students at California State University in Monterey Bay, we assisted in planting these native plants to help the sand dunes that line along the beautiful coastline. The ecosystems that these dunes support will gain stability with the introduction of these plants. Many insects and animals, including the Snowy Plover bird and the Smith’s Blue Butterfly who use the vegetation for protection, will enjoy a more balanced habitat.
In the early 1900’s, ice-plant was introduced to the coastline of California with the intention of holding shifting sand more stable for the construction of railroad tracks. However, the introduction of ice-plant has begun to lessen the biodiversity of the delicate ecosystem that the dunes support, and its effects are felt.
With continued effort and awareness, Return of the Natives progresses with this work and many other projects alike with the intention of creating a better tomorrow. Awareness of these environmental issues and remedial projects continues to grow and we are so thankful to have had the opportunity to share in restoring the one common habitat that we as humans share together, Mother Earth.

To awaken the dreamer is to revitalize an awareness that has been forgotten because of countless others telling us to be scared, when all we ever are is free ~
The dreamer speaks the language of enthusiasm and is able to remember the inner child that tugs toward curiosity and joy. As time adds experience to the equation, its become clear that our intention largely influences the reality that we experience. Growing this intent from seeds of love and gratitude within ourselves enhances our probability of abundance for us and for all. In this space, we surrender to flow state and allow the heart to gain strength as an organ of perception. Riding this wave is an exploration defined by the infinite, while unbound by convention. We are all relying on one another to live our passions so we can live in each others dream world. This new year of life is a blank canvas, let us paint our dreams*

The Golden era is now, back to our origins we flow. Living in love, light, joy and freedom is what we all desire. To reach this blissful state, one must allow authenticity to shine through. There are no steps to take to reach this illuminated state of awareness. All one must do is simply listen, tune in and receive awareness of the interconnectedness that is. Ego will build obstacles and illusions to deter the spirit from reaching oneness. A reminder to dream, feel, and manifest with clear intention. Let us be conscious of the way we interact with ourselves, others and the environment. Let us emanate unconditional love from every muscle and every fiber of our being. Let our heartfelt direction be for the greater good of ourselves and all, for we are one. With open hearts, we are awakened to the divine light within us. May it guide us all along the golden path of consciousness to fulfill the selfless mission that we have created for ourselves here on earth. Let us replace density with light and ride the wave into the pasture of peace and harmony. For this is our ultimate destination and is rapidly achieved through reconciliation with our truest self. To merge ego with spirit is the way of light; the way of Oneness.

Today, we chatted with board members of Friends of Santa Cruz about all of the potential opportunity to expand projects at the Castro Adobe. We expressed to them that we wanted to work with their vision of further preserving and demonstrating the cultural history of the site as well as the environment for the common good of all. While introducing projects and principals of permaculture, the collective consciousness within the community will grow and sustainable practices will gain traction in generations to come.
In response, they openly filled us in on their ongoing projects for 2018. Amongst those projects are the expansion of a raised bed garden, rainwater harvesting, permeable driveway, solar power, yard and kitchen waste composting, plant seed collecting, drip irrigation expansion, and composting toilets. In coordination with the building of these projects, Friends of Santa Cruz was also interested to open the projects to volunteer efforts and those who wish to learn about the building process as well as the principals being exercised. We explored existing connections to work with volunteer high school students on behalf of this idea.
We are very excited that this dream of collaboration is coming to fruition and infinitely grateful for the support of those involved. Let there be light!
Today at The Peace and Justice Center in Seaside, CA, activists in the local community gathered to present accomplishments and connect with others in an effort to collaborate while facilitating positive change within local communities. At this meeting, the potential to develop available local land by implementing permaculture and healing projects was explored. These opportunities are currently being pursued!
